Ter Stegen starred with two stunning saves in San Mames stalemate

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen was once again decisive in his side's goalless draw against Athletic Club on Sunday, making two brilliant saves at San Mames.

"It's a good draw, I am happy with the point because we tried everything until the end," the German goalkeeper said.

But he was modest about his performance in the game, which saw super stops from Markel Susaeta in the first half and Inaki Williams late on.

"I don't know if I was best player on the team," he added. "But I always give everything possible for the group.

"Defensively we were good today, everyone of us (...) But there are always things to improve, there are also things I can improve. But I am happy with my performance.

"Both [the Athletic chances] have to be stopped whatever, no? Both were important. They were important for my confidence, too.

"But the whole team, not just me, gave everything until the end and I am happy we have a fighting team like that."

The goalkeeper also recognised the fixture list has been tough: "Maybe there's an element of tiredness because of the schedule. February's a loaded month.

"I think everyone's happy that we can now rest for one or two days. From there, we can then keep figthing for everything.

"We were focused and keen to win this game, which we knew would be difficult. We have to keep on going and moving forward."
