The midfielder will be offered a five year deal with a huge release clause

Barça hope the deal will be closed soon after positive talks with De la Peña

Joan Laporta's comments at the end of May provoked fear that Gavi could leave Barcelona. But according to Xavi Campos on Catalunya Radio, the Barça president and the player's agent Ivan de la Peña have got things back on track.

Per the report, the two parties met before Laporta's dinner with Jorge Mendes on Wednesday. In said meeting, Barça translated a written offer to De la Peña that had previously only been verbal.

There are still differences to resolve, but the meeting served to bring postures closer together and the feeling is an agreement will be reached in the coming days.

The meeting also served to clear up misunderstandings after LAporta's comments about Gavi's camp listening to other offers and Gavi's camp responding by saying they had not received an official offer.

Gavi's terms will be similar to Ronald Araujo's although the numbers have not come out. It will likely be a five-year deal with a €1 billion release clause.
