Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele wants to renew Camp Nou deal

The forward's been injury free this season but his contract is up in 2022

Ousmane Dembele's future is one of the issues the new Barcelona president will have to deal with when they're appointed on March 7.

The French winger is out of contract in 2022 and the club are obliged to force a renewal or to sell him this summer if they don't want to risk losing him for free next year.

Dembele is very happy in Barcelona and with Barça and has communicated his disposition to continue as long as an agreement can be reached.

Bild report that Manchester United will move for the French winger again this summer if they can't get Jadon Sancho. They want one of the two forwards, with Dortmund demanding 120 million euros for Sancho.

United were close to landing Dembele on loan last summer but, in the end, the deal fell through because Barça wanted Dembele to renew his deal before leaving. Dembele wasn't convinced bu the offer, either.

The difference now is that Dembele has stated his interest in continuing at Camp Nou. He's in no rush to renew and will wait for the new president. Barça must decide what offer they make and if they increase his salary, which could be tough given the pandemic and financial crisis.

If negotiations break down, Dembele could decide to stay at Barça and leave for free in 2022. United are monitoring the situation but so are Juventus and Chelsea.

Barça's financial position would impede them from offering as much as the other clubs if Dembele was set to go for free. Dembele has adapted to life in Barcelona and taken steps forward on the pitch this season. He knows he could be a key player moving forward and hopes to stay.
