Barcelona needed a great game to steady the ship against Sevilla and they had that at the weekend, amplifying the positive message that Ronald Koeman has been sending. They won by two and Sevilla didn’t have a chance in the game, as Barca changed system to three centre-backs.
Koeman has been doing some intense mentality work since the PSG 4-1 thrashing in the Champions League. He is not willing to throw in the towel.
The team have to believe in their chances and the ability to turn things around in the Copa del Rey semi-final, at 2-0 down against Sevilla (again).
The new set up unsettled the Andalusians and Barca were comfortable. Koeman was self-critical after PSG and realised he should have changed system to deal with Mbappe and Co. They were too open.
Even Griezmann, who was sacrificed for this change, was still supportive from the sidelines.
The team is united and has the objective of fighting for the title still, five points behind Atletico with one game more played. Atletico face Real Madrid at the weekend and could drop more points still
The cup game on Wednesday is key too. It would be a huge confidence boost to come back and make it to the final. The double is still something Barcelona can dream of.
