The Blaugrana would not accept Valencia's loan conditions

Rodrigo will not join Barcelona. The Blaugrana dug in and held their ground, refusing Valencia's demand they put an obligatory buy clause in the loan deal for Rodrigo. The board will look at other transfer targets and try to sign a Luis Suarez replacement before the window shuts.

The two sides have been negotiating intensely for two days to try and reach a deal. In the end, the Blaugrana decided if they couldn't sign the deal they wanted they would back out. Rodrigo had given the yes, but Barcelona did not want to be forced into signing him.

Jorge Mendes, the player's agent, tried to make the operation viable for all three parties, including with the potential signing and loan of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon, but Man United are going to sign him.
