Barcelona defender Araujo injured in Uruguay defeat to Argentina

The centre-back should be OK for his country's game vs. Brazil later in the week

It was a tough night for Ronald Araujo on Sunday. The Barcelona defender started for Uruguay but couldn't celebrate a win as they were well beaten, losing 3-0 to Lionel Messi's Argentina.

However, things were even worse for Araujo, who could not end the game after taking a knock to his leg. In theory, it's nothing serious, though and he could feature against Brazil later this week.

On the pitch, it had not been his best night, either. Some of his long balls were imprecise, although he still showed leadership and character in a back three with Godin and Coates.

In the 73rd minute, Araujo was taken off after taking a blow to the leg. He was spotted on the bench with ice on the affected area, with the suggestion it was bruising and not a muscle injury.

Therefore, pending tests this week, he should be available for the Brazil game and then back for Barca's match vs. Valencia at Camp Nou on Sunday.
