Barcelona to decide Ferran Jutgla's future in the coming weeks

Renew, sell, loan, keep... these are the decisions the club must make soon

Barcelona are working on ins and outs for next season and one of the names on the table is Ferran Jutgla, the forward who is having an exceptional season with the B team.

Jutgla's performances and goals have sparked interest among many clubs. Barça are weighing up the possible scenarios for his future: Does he have a place in the first team as the third striker? Should they take advantage of the 'hype' and cash in? First, though, they must take up their option to extend his contract by another year, which seems obvious at this point.

A TRANSFER

It is perhaps the most likely option. Barça need cash. Jutgla has a market. Renewing his deal and listening to offers is the logical thing, although they should not sell for less than €3 million. Remember that he was at the Ceramica to watch Villarreal's recent Champions League game against Liverpool.

A LOAN

In this scenario, a one-year renewal would not be enough, because he would then leave for free after a year away. Barça would have to agree, at least, a new two-year contract with Jutgla. They would have to make him see that they have confidence in him but want him to continue his development away from Camp Nou for a year.

FIRST TEAM CHANCE

Many people around the club believe he has earned the right to do preseason with Xavi's first team. Renew his deal by a year and give him some weeks around the squad. Depending on other ins and outs, a decision can then be made in parallel with his form in the summer. The risk is that he sticks around for a year, doesn't play much, except for the B team, and then leaves for free in 2023.

In any case, things should become clearer in the coming weeks. Without a doubt, he has earned his first big contract as a professional.
