Spain want Ansu for the U17 World Cup in October and November

Barcelona are happy that, as revealed by SPORT, Ansu Fati has decided to play for Spain ahead of Portugal or the country where he was born, Guinea-Bissau.

But the reality is that they could be left without Ansu soon if his passport arrives in time for him to play for La Roja at the U17 World Cup, which starts in Brazil at the end of October and runs until November 17.

Ansu has been the star of the season so far -- not just for Barça, but globally. The 16-year-old has scored two goals in three appearances and has looked confident on the pitch.

He's already an important first-team player and looks set to remain with the squad even when Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele return to fitness.

But if he's called up for the U17 World Cup, Barça may lose him for a while. It's difficult to predict what will happen as the process is not easy when it comes to nationalising someone. The Superior Court for Sport may even have to intervene, as was the case with Diego Costa.

Spain U17s debut in Brazil on October 28 against Argentina. The squad is announced 15 games before that game but until one or two days before the tournament, there is time to inscribe players.

It's still unknown but if he does travel to South America he could miss the following games:

19-20 October Eibar - Barça Liga
23 October Slavia Prague - Barça Champions
27 October Barça - Real Madrid Liga
29-30 October Barça - Valladolid Liga
2-3 November Levante - Barça Liga
5 November Barça - Slavia Prague Champìons
9-10 November Barça - Celta Liga
