Barcelona could act if Braithwaite refused to leave the club this summer

The Catalan club hope the Danish striker will accept a transfer away from Camp Nou

Barcelona have told the players that are not part of Xavi's plans to look for a new team. In fact, they are already looking for solutions so that players unwilling to leave, like Lenglet and Pjanic, change their minds. The most complicated case is Martin Braithwaite. He does not want to leave but Barça have told his camp they will take severe measures if he maintains the same attitude in the coming weeks.

Braithwaite said publicly that he wants to stay and is convinced that by working hard he will get a chance in the team. For the sporting department at the club and the coaches, that will not be the case and they won't change their decision. In addition, Barça have received proposals from Celta Vigo and Valencia, while there is also Premier League interest.

The Danish striker doesn't want to lose a euro from his salary, but Barça would perhaps cover some of his wages if it helped force an exit. With Robert Lewandowski likely to join, Barça are well covered in attack and there is no place for Braithwaite.

Barça are also annoyed with Braithwaite's stance because he was signed as an emergency to cover an injured player and he joined with it clear that he could leave again if the Catalan club no longer counted on him. He stayed last summer given the financial problems preventing big signings, but now every euro counts on the wage bill and they need to rid him from the paybill.
