With the summer transfer window looming, Barcelona's clear priority is to sign a top-level striker to strengthen Ronald Koeman's side.
The top target is Erling Haaland, although an operation is complicated due to the competition involved. Barça have sounded out various options to cover themselves and one of them is Harry Kane, 27, a player that could leave Tottenham this summer and is seriously evaluating trying his luck away from the Premier League.
New Barça president Joan Laporta and his board are working the market to have all the possible information and to then take a definitive decision. Spurs seem to have a commitment to Kane to facilitate an exit this summer, although the only condition is that he cannot strengthen a direct rival. Manchester United and Manchester City would both like to sign the England captain, but Spurs would prioritise an offer from abroad. And Barça know that.
The Blaugrana have good information from the player's entourage. Kane earns 12 million euros a season and Spurs would be open to a deal at the right price. Barça have various reports on the player, both in terms of his performance and skillset and his professionalism, and they're all excellent. A deal is seen as viable, although they absolute priority is Haaland, due to his age and room for improvement. Despite that, the difficulties in closing a deal for the Norway star are huge, to Barça aren't closing the door on the game's other great scorers. Kane's one of them.
He was close to leaving last summer but Tottenham put the breaks on. He has been secretive about his future, suggesting he will talk about it at the end of the season, although he's increasingly clear that he wants to start a new cycle at a winning club. Barça is a tempting destination. Both Kane and Lautaro Martinez are the two options on the table if Haaland's not possible. The Catalan club's big investment this summer will be on a top-class striker who can give them years of service.
