The Danish international will be out for at least three months

Barcelona have confirmed that Martin Braithwaite's knee has not responded to treatment and he will need surgery in the coming days.

Barça have not revealed how long the Danish striker will be out for -- they say they will release another statement after the operation -- but initial reports are three to four months.

Braithwaite joins Sergio Aguero, Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati out of action, leaving Barça short in the striking department in the coming weeks.

"The first-team player Martin Braithwaite has a femoropatellar injury in his left knee which has not responded to conservative treatment," Barça said Monday.

"The Danish striker will undergo surgery in the coming days. The club will publish a new injury update when the process has taken place.

"The Danish international has made three appearances in the league so far this season totaling 226 minutes. On the opening day of the season against Real Sociedad at Camp Nou the striker scored twice and provided an assist for another goal."
