Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez: We have the base to keep building

Xavi Hernández let himself be carried away by the joy of having won his first league title as Barcelona coach on Saturday.

"It was a very cool experience, it brought back a lot of memories from my time as a player," he said of the trophy-lifting party on Saturday which followed the defeat against Real Sociedad.

In the same vein, he assured that, throughout the season, "the harmony has been tremendous, spectacular, I asked for the unity of Barcelona fans and I think we have achieved it, there is harmony between the team and the fans."

As for the match, he is clear that "they had more at stake. We had been celebrating for practically the whole week and then it's hard to compete." However, he has no doubts that "we tried. We didn't play a bad game, but we didn't show our best"

On the title, he once again vindicated what has been achieved: "It has a lot of merit, we have very young players We have the base and it has to be solid. From there we will build on it. Next year we go to Montjuïc, it won't be an easy year, but with the help of the fans I think it should also be an exciting year."
