The midfielder will miss Tuesday's game vs. Celta through suspension

FC Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez spoke openly about the importance of midfielder Sergio Busquets, who will miss Tuesday's game vs. Celta Vigo through suspension and is out of contract in 2023.

"Busquets is not eternal," Xavi said in a press conference. "It's important to have that in mind when planning for the future."

Xavi, who has secured Champions League football for Barça next season following Saturday's win at Real Betis, pointed out the importance of having each position doubled up.

"We don't have a profile like Busquets in the squad. He will be a big loss (vs. Celta). We have to find balance without him. We have various options.

"We must have two players per position. Some positions are not doubled, so it is about planning well from here until the future."

In addition to Busquets, Pedri, Sergi Roberto and Nico are currently injured, leaving Barça with just Frenkie de Jong, Gavi and Riqui Puig as the only available midfielders on Tuesday.

To cover the absences, Xavi has called up B team players Alvaro Sanz and Jandro Orellana.
