Barcelona bring forward Pedri's holiday
The 18 year old has played out of his skin this season
Although there’s still a game left in the 2020-21 season, Pedri will not be part of the trip. On Saturday against Eibar at Ipurua, Barcelona will be without the young Canarian midfielder.
Per Marca, he needs a rest and will spend the week at home in Canarias ahead of the Euros. He has also had a stomach problem.
Pedri is the only player to have participated in all 37 of Barca’s league games so far, 28 as a starter and nine as a sub. The club believe it’s the right moment for him to have a rest with the game meaningless.
The former Las Palmas player has also played six Copa del Rey games, missing just one in the Champions League and played in the Spanish Super Cup semis and final.
He made his debut on Sep 27, 2020 against Villarreal in the 4-0 win at Camp Nou. His release clause is 400m euros and he has a contract until 2024.
With Luis Enrique likely to call up Pedri, this is a good rest for Spain too.
