The club previously sounded out a deal in 2020 when he was at Almeria

Darwin Nuñez has been added to the list of forwards Barcelona are following ahead of the summer. The Uruguayan striker is well-liked by the club, who know his situation perfectly, although Benfica's asking price makes any operation considered a risk right now.

The Portuguese club, who signed the forward for 20 million euros in 2020, want around 80 million. Jordi Cruyff watched him in Benfica's win over Ajax on Wednesday, when he scored the goal to take the Portuguese side into the quarterfinal of the Champions League.

Barça's interest in Darwin is not new. In fact, previous sporting director Ramon Planes was close to pulling off a deal in 2020. At that point, he proposed to Almeria that Barça would buy a percentage of the player's rights and leave him on loan at the Andalusian club.

The player was keen but then Benfica appeared with a huge offer and took the Uruguayan away from Barcelona. He has scored 19 goals in 22 games this season and has done well in the Champions League.

Barça believe in his potential and he's an interesting player but the price is a lot at the moment. If Benfica want to drop their demands, an operation is possible. But Barça won't pay more than 50 million for the young forward.

That's the amount they think Isak will move for, from Real Sociedad, too, and they won't budge from that. The objective is Haaland but Barça are more and more clear that will be impossible.
