The pandemic has led to the Catalans taking precautionary measures

Barcelona are obeying instructions from the health authorities and have shut down in part to help combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

"From the start of the week we've been at the service of the authorities because were were facing a situation of health alert that became a pandemic which surpasses the competitive side of things," said spokesman Josep Vives. "We're talking about the health of people and we think that FC Barcelona has a very big social responsibility and have to act in an exemplary way."

Barcelona have stopped all activities at youth and amateur level and only the professional areas of the club will be undertaking activities.

The first team's game against Mallorca has been called off as part of the widespread cancellation of fixtures across Europe.

Barca's club museum and ice rink has been closed for 15 days. They also made the following recommendations to staff:

"In order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the collective group of people who form part of FC Barcelona, and following the recommendation to reduce the occupation density of workspaces as a measure to slow the spread of the coronavirus, the club willl continue to function with the following conditions:

"Minimal presential services will be in place, with remote working encouraged for those able to do so. 

Flexible working hours for those who require attendance at the club, either sporadically or regularly, with the aim of avoiding crowds at peak times.

Diverse measures and safety recommendations to be followed (avoid meetings in person, maintain minimum distance, emphasise hygeine measures)."
