The Argentina international is not a regular in England and would welcome Camp Nou switch

Barça are looking for a partner for Robert Lewandowski and are sounding out various options to sign a second striker. According to Argentine journalist César Luis Merlo, from TyC, the Blaugrana have asked about Julián Álvarez's situation at Manchester City in order to explore a loan deal from June onwards. Álvarez wants more prominence as he is often a substitute in the Premier League and would welcome the option of moving to Camp Nou.

Alvarez has only played six league games as a starter in a Manchester City side that has bet on Erling Haaland in almost every game. The ex-River Plate forward was hoping for more starts, but it is already clear to him that he does not play in important games and he feels that he cannot let his progression stagnate. Both he and his camp are concerned and could look for solutions for the future.

Relations between Barça and Manchester City are magnificent and, in fact, the two directives met around the Europa League match played at Manchester United last week. It is not the first time that it Alvarez been linked with Barça, but now the ideal conditions could be in place for a deal to be forged. In any case, Barça know that they will have little money to invest this summer so the option of him arriving on loan is attractive to all parties.

The Catalan club had very good reports about Álvarez when he broke through at River Plate and they followed him closely, although there was never a possibility of signing him given the millionaire offer of Manchester City, who took him for almost €22 million. The striker thought he would have more options as his performances have always been excellent when he has played, but the stiff competition in Manchester has relegated him to ostracism.
