The Catalan club want to strengthen their attack in January

As Barcelona try to sign Manchester City's Ferran Torres, their top target to strengthen their attack, other names continue to be linked with the Catalan club.

One of those players is the River Plate forward Julian Alvarez, with Esport3's Oriol Domenech reporting Barça's interest in the youngster.

Alvarez, 21, is ready to take the next step of his career in Europe and is valued at around 20 million euros. Domenech says Barça have been tracking him for months.

With three games to go in the Argentine league this season, Alvarez has scored 17 goals and created six more for River Plate.

Already an international with Argentina, he would appear to have a big future ahead of him, but Barça's financial situation may make a move difficult as they pursue other priorities first.
