Barcelona and Ousmane Dembele close to agreeing a new contract

Koeman, Dembele / | sport

The forward will sign terms to keep him at Camp Nou until 2023 or 2024

Ousmane Dembele is close to renewing his contract with Barcelona following a complete change in the situation in recent weeks.

Dembele, who is currently out until November with an injury, is out of contract next summer and from Jan. 1 is free to negotiate with other clubs.

Barça have always wanted to extend his stay at the club but there had never been an agreement with the French forward's people.

Dembele and his camp, aware they could get a succulent signing on bonus if they leave on free, had always felt Barça's offer was not enough.

However, things have changed in recent days and the club are optimistic that he will pen a new deal with them.

The terms

Dembele will accept a new short-term deal (the idea is to extend until 2023 or 2024) and will also slightly reduce his salary.

The good news for Barça is that he will not leave for free next summer, which is something they had began to fear in recent months.
