Monchu's camp believe he is a free agent but Barça say they still have his rights

Monchu Rodriguez's future is uncertain. The midfielder's loan with Girona is up and he believes he's free to join whoever he likes while Barcelona feels they still own his rights. There's conflict.

As explained on EsportsRAC1, Monchu's camp understand that Girona's failure to win promotion to La Liga (they lost in the playoff final to Rayo Vallecano) means he is a free agent now.

It's worth pointing out that Girona had to pay Barça €3.5 million to keep Monchu if they went up. As they haven't been promoted, and as they did not inform Barça before the middle of June of their intention to keep him, Monchi considers himself without a club.

Barça maintain that a clause exists that means they still own his rights for another two years, but the player's agents, the company Wasserman, allege that is not the case and the solution to this contact is unknown.

Meanwhile, Mallorca are monitoring the situation closely. Monchi began his career with Mallorca, who have recently been promoted back to La Liga.
