The Uruguayan striker must now find a way to leave Old Trafford
Barcelona are working on reinforcing their attack in January. The forward most likely to arrive is Edinson Cavani. Barcelona have reached a deal with him to sign for a year and a half, if Manchester United allow him to leave.
Barcelona have other options on the table but Cavani is keen to join so he has been pout first. It’s a cheap deal for a club with limited funds. He’s a natural born goalscorer with veteran experience at the top level.
Cavani would accept a very low salary during the first six months of his deal and get a bit more next season. It would help Barcelona swerve the salary limit in January that is blocking their plans.
The English club have not told Cavani he can leave for free but if the Uruguayan forces the situation it seems likely.
Chelsea striker Timo Werner is an option on loan as they look to move on Luuk de Jong and create space. They will also get Braithwaite back from injury soon, plus Memphis Depay.
