Barcelona accelerating towards Leeds winger Raphinha

The Brazilian has a five year deal with the Catalans agreed with the club needing to reach agreement on a fee with Leeds

Barcelona want to seal the signing of Raphinha as quickly as possible. The technical team have selected him, with Xavi’s backing, as the right winger they need. With Leeds safe, there’s no impediment to open negotiation with the Yorkshire club.

Raphinha is a target whether or not Dembele stays - and even though his 25m euro release clause has disappeared as they survived the drop. When negotiations started long ago, they weren’t that close to going down.

The moment of truth is arriving. Barcelona bid 35m for Raphinha in March, which Leeds rejected. They may try to include a player in a deal. Leeds have shown some interest in Oscar Mingueza. The negotiations have taken place in a cordial climate.

Barcelona have done half the work, agreeing a deal with the player, thanks to the diligent attitude of his agent, Deco. He has accepted the new pay scheme in place at the club, and will come for five years.

The 25 year old is a starter for Tite with Brazil, and after two years in the Premier League, is ready for the challenge of a lifetime at Barcelona.
