Incidencias

Partido correspondiente a la quinta jornada de la fase de grupos de la Champions League disputado en el Camp Nou ante 90.071 espectadores.

Messi scored one and made one for Luis Suarez and another for Antoine Griezmann with Dortmund scoring a late consolation through substitute Jadon Sancho.

Barca seal their place in the next round as group winners with the win, which means they will avoid Manchester City, Juventus and Bayern Munich, among others, as well as Spanish sides Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid (if they qualify) in December's draw for the next stage.

Ernesto Valverde brought Ivan Rakitic into the side but the Croatian gave the ball away in the first minute and was grateful to Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Samuel Umtiti for spring his blushes.

That was as close as Dortmund came in the first half with Barca taken over. Suarez had just had a goal ruled out for a marginal offside when he turned home a brilliant pass from Messi on the half hour mark.

Roles revered four minutes later when Suarez teed up Messi after Mats Hummels had gifted the ball to Frenkie de Jong.

Ousmane Dembele had earlier been taken off distraught with a thigh problem and it was his replacement who added the third. Griezmann finished well after another brilliant pass from Messi.

Messi almost added the fourth, thumping a free kick off the bar, before Barça went through the motions and almost allowed Dortmund back into it.

England international Sancho fired home from the edge of the box and then saw another clean strike tipped on to the bar by Ter Stegen.

The three points remained in Catalonia, though, and Dortmund now need a favour from Barça. The Germans face Slavia Prague in their final game and will hope Barça, with nothing to play for, can get a result away at Inter Milan.
