Barça's Valverde: What Ansu did against Valencia is not normal

The coach says Barcelona will try and control the hype around the teenager

Ernesto Valverde praised Ansu Fati after he starred in Barcelona's 5-2 win against Valencia but also called for the hype around the teenager to be limited.

The 16-year-old scored and assisted in the win on what was his first start for Barca's first team, following on from his goal off the bench against Osasuna before the international break.

Ansu was taken off after an hour, despite impressing, and Valverde explained: "He has to learn to understand his body, and also the league, he's still developing. There's a lot of hype and we don't know where it will end up but we have to try and control it, to protect him.

"He's a player with something special. He seems more mature than his age -- he's a kid of 16. But what we see in training he's doing on the pitch. Today it was exaggerated, a goal with his first touch, then an assist and almost another goal.

"That's not normal and won't always happen. Things will balance out. But he's adding a lot, but he's 16 and we have to have patience."
