The German's message was different to Pique's, which was more pessimistic

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen was decisive in Barcelona's goalless draw against Sevilla on Friday as he kept his fourth clean sheet in a row in a LaLiga.

The goalkeeper made two excellent saves from Lucas Ocampos and Munir El Haddadi in the second half to keep the home side out.

Speaking after the game, his teammate, Gerard Pique, said it will be very difficult to win the league from here, but Ter Stegen's message was different.

"It's not in our hands anymore and we will be watching what our rivals do but we are improving," he said, with Madrid able to go top if they win their game in hand against Real Sociedad on Sunday.

"Defensively we are improving and getting to our best and I am convinced that by winning all the games we have left we will be champions."

A win on Sunday would take Madrid level with Barça on points with eight games to play but they would go top because they have the superior head-to-head record.

On the stalemate in Seville, Ter Stegen added: "I think we played well, especially in the first half. We knew that we were coming to a tough place against a good side and we dominated.

"I think the draw was fair, though, because they also had good chances. In the second half, it was end to end and both teams created a lot of danger."
