Barça's Sergiño Dest becomes fifth American to play in La Liga
The USMNT right-back made his debut at left-back against Sevilla on Sunday
It was an unforgettable night on Sunday for the young United States defender Sergiño Dest, who made his Barcelona debut at Camp Nou in the 1-1 draw against Sevilla.
Dest, 19, came on in the 75th minute at left-back in place of the injured Jordi Alba. He became the first American to play a competitive game for Barça and the fifth to play in La Liga.
Ex-goalkeeper Kasey Keller became the first when he played for Rayo Vallecano, playing a total of 51 times between 1999 and 2001.
Next came Jozy Altidore (Villarreal), Oguchi Onyewu (Malaga) and then, most recently, Shaquell Moore (Levante).
The USMNT don't have any games in the upcoming international break but Dest is already a full international, having previously played at the U17 and U20 World Cups for their youth teams.
