The Manchester City centre-back is the one the Catalan club really want
Barcelona want to sign a young centre-back to increase the competition in the middle of their back four next season. And the chosen one is Eric Garcia, who has given the green light to leave Manchester City and return to his former club.
The Blaugrana know City are pushing him to renew his contract, which expires in 2021, but they will have to negotiate in the end because Garcia's desire to move back to Camp Nou is clear. Pau Torres was offered a few months ago. Barça rate him, but he's not currently on the table.
The option to sign Garcia eclipses any other centre-back on the market. Barça stepped up their interest once they knew he wanted to come back and now they're waiting on an agreement with City. Barça don't believe the Premier League side will keep him and risk losing him for free in 2021 and hope an understanding can be reached.
As for Pau Torres, it's true Barça have followed him and he would be keen to make the move. His style would fit in but his price does not convince.
The Villarreal centre-back would demand around 50 million euros and Manchester City and Manchester United are also tracking the Spain international.
