The midfielder had to drop out of a recovery session on Sunday due to the problem

Pedri's recovery from a thigh injury has received a setback, according to Diario AS. The Barcelona player will undergo further tests on Monday to check on pain he experienced during a rehabilitation session on Sunday.

The Barça midfielder first picked up the injury on Sept. 14 in the defeat to Bayern Munich. He returned for the game against Benfica in October but suffered a relapse.

A few days ago, the plan was for him to return to training with the team this week, but the negative sensations from the weekend could further delay his return to first team action.

Pedri, 18, was training before the Clasico, which Barça lost 2-1 to Real Madrid, when he had to return to the dressing room because of the pain in his thigh.

AS explain that as a result of that, the club's medical team have pencilled in a scan for Monday to assess the state of the injury.

The key is to avoid another relapse and Pedri will not be rushed back as Barça prepare for LaLiga games against Rayo Vallecano and Alaves this week.

It's not the only problem coach Ronald Koeman has in midfield, with Frenkie de Jong also now injured.
