Barça's Pedri: Every time Messi touches the ball, something happens

Pedri has a great relationship with Messi on the pitch already

Pedri spoke to the media after Barcelona beat Huesca 4-1 on Monday to cut the gap on league leaders Atletico Madrid to four points.

Here's what the young midfielder, called up for Spain's senior side for the first time ever earlier in the day, had to say.

Three points closer: "We knew that the leaders had slipped up and we had to win to close the gap. I have always said that we won't give up on the title. We have a good team to fight for La Liga and there are a lot of points to play for. I said in Paris that we're on a good run and that playing like this we can beat anyone."

Lionel Messi: "I enjoy every game and every training session with Messi. I try to find him because he's the best and he shows it in every game. Every time he touches the ball something can happen and that's why I look for him. It's crazy what he's achieving; he is the best in the world."

New position: "I'm further from the area but I have more contract with the ball."

Spain call up: "I was following the announcement at home with my parents to see if I would get the chance to represent my country. It's an honour and a dream to be called up."
