The Eintracht striker is one of the main transfer targets for the club this summer but the asking price is making a move unlikely

One of the main objectives for FC Barcelona in this summer's transfer window is the signing of Luka Jovic. The young striker is scoring for fun in the Bundesliga and the two sides have been negotiating over the last few months. However the deal is 'dead' at the moment due to how much Eintracht are asking for in exhange for the starlet. The player's representatives are trying to drum up interest from other clubs and Barça won't get involved in a bidding war.

Barça decided at the start of the year to bring forward talks with Jovic over a potential move to the Camp Nou. The striker is continues to impress this season and the plan was to secure a move before anyone else made a play for the forward. Everything looked positive due to Jovic's desire to play for Barça and the asking price wasn't beyond the club's reach.

A few days ago Barça sent some people out to Lisbon to hold talks with the player's representatives. Jovic didn't play for Serbia against Portugal but the objective was to move forward the potential deal. Barça believe Jovic could become world class but he'd be a gamble at this stage and were willing to part with €60m. However due to interest from other sides in Europe, notably PSG, the asking price has gone up.

This is why Barça are yet to present an official offer for Jovic, despite reports saying otherwise. The Spanish club feel they are being used in order to drive up interest - and as such, the asking price - so Eintracht can bank the maximum possible for Jovic. Barça haven't given up hope of luring the striker to the Camp Nou but at the moment they believe it's looking complicated.

Barça have informed Jovic of their interest and what they are willing to pay, so hope a solution can be reached in the next few weeks. Meanwhile the player's agent has met with Real Madrid, PSG and some clubs from the Premier League too. Now the decision lies in the hands of Jovic.
