Barça's four-year contract offer to Bayern star Lewandowski

Xavi's project wants a star to be the centrepiece moving forward next season

Barcelona, given the difficulties in signing Erling Haaland, have looked elsewhere to strengthen their attack and one player on the table to Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

Reaching an agreement with Lewandowski should not be difficult because the player is keen for a change of scenery and his agent, Pini Zahavi, is close to Barça president Joan Laporta.

Barça are prepared to hand Lewandowski a four-year contract until 2026 and give him the chance to lead Xavi Hernandez's sporting project.

Xavi, who currently has Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doing a very good job of leading the line, wants a start striker who guarantees goals and links play in line with his idea of the game.

Barça feel Lewandowski has at least two more years at the top, until 2024, due to the professionalism and quality he has. The numbers are there for everyone to see in recent years: 339 goals in 366 games for Bayern. And his goals in the last four seasons, for example: 40, 55, 48 and 45.

Barça need a star and are thinking of Lewandowski to fill the gap left by Lionel Messi last summer. With a star in their ranks, they would be more attractive to sponsors globally.

Meanwhile, Lewandowski has never been a problematic player. His attitude on and off the pitch has been exemplary. In Germany, he's only been sent off once, when he played for Borussia Dortmund in 2013.
