Barça's Eric Garcia: Criticism and lack of respect does not affect me

The Spain defender often comes under fire when Barcelona slip up

Barcelona defender Eric Garcia says the criticism he receives does not affect him.

The Spain international is often singled out when things don't go well for Barça and that was again the case recently after the draw with Inter Milan and the loss to Real Madrid.

"Obviously I gave the penalty away against Madrid and against Inter I could have been better," Garcia admitted in a news conference ahead of Barça's Champions League game against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

"I am 21, I have room to improve. The criticism which is lacking respect does not concern me. I accept constructive criticism. I know when I play well and when I don't. I have people around me that tell me.

"As for the rest, people can say what they want but it does not affect me."

Garcia is likely to keep his place when Barça host Bayern, although by the time the game kicks off they could already be knocked out of the Champions League.

If Inter Milan beat Viktoria Plzen in Wednesday's early game, Barça will be sent to the Europa League for the second season running.

"As long as there is a little hope, we will fight until the end," Garcia added.
