The USMNT right-back has been struggling with a thigh problem for weeks

Barcelona are preparing for Wednesday's Copa del Rey last 16 tie against Rayo Vallecano in Madrid. Ronald Koeman was without Sergió Dest for training on Tuesday ahead of that game, with the United States international working individually.

Dest has been struggling with a thigh injury for the last few weeks. He came off against Granada, missed the game against Real Sociedad, came off against Athletic Club and didn't feature against Cornella or Elche.

Mingueza or Sergi Roberto?

The rest of the squad trained as normal on the Tito Vilanova pitch at the Ciutat Esportivo Joan Gamper. The doubts over Dest's fitness could mean another start for Oscar Mingueza, who's been filling in for the ex-Ajax man.

However, Koeman could decide the Copa game is the perfect opportunity for Sergi Roberto get his first minutes since returning to full training.

Roberto's been out for two months but could be given the green light to return to competitive action soon. If it comes this week, Koeman will have a decision to make.

After Wednesday's game against Rayo, Barça turn their thoughts back to La Liga, with a fixture against Supercopa winners Athletic at Camp Nou on Sunday.
