Barça's Balde on his contract renewal & the talent of Lamine Yamal
The left-back is out of contract in 2024 but should sign a new deal soon
Still pending the signing of his contract renewal, Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde spoke to the program 'Què t'hi jugues' on Cadena SER.
The Barça left-back, who made his Spain debut at the World Cup in Qatar, was questioned precisely about his future. His response was not overly committal: "The contract renewal? I leave everything in the hands of my agent. I always want to continue here, but in the future you never know."
It should be noted that the matter of extending the defender's contract has been on the table for weeks and weeks, but the club's economic situation has slowed things down. The player, represented by Jorge Mendes, is out of contract in 2024.
His performances in these first months of the season have been very good. He has managed to convince Xavi of his worth, who has used him both in his natural position (left-back) and on the right.

Asked about the player who he has had the hardest time defending, he said: "Dembélé in training."
Balde, a homegrown player, also made reference to one of the young talents at Barça: Lamine Yamal: "I give Lamine Yamal a hard time when he comes up to train with us (laughs). He is 15 years old and is very good and has a great future. He is a very good player, with a lot of quality... crazy. The greatest talent from La Masia together with Gavi."
