Barça withdraw De Ligt interest due to prohibitive price of Juve man

The Catalan club would love to sign the Dutchman but he's too expensive

The Premier League -- Chelsea or Man Utd -- is a more likely destination

Matthijs de Ligt is a player that Barcelona like a lot, but he will not be at the club next season. The Blaugrana have ruled out entering a bidding war for the Juventus defender due to the club's financial position and other priorities.

De Ligt has been offered around again recently given the possibility that he could leave Juve this summer, but his price is excessive.

Juve want €100 for the Dutch international -- a figure which is negotiable -- and the player earns around €10 million annually. The Premier League looks like his next step.

De Ligt has a contract with Juve until 2024 and talks over a new contract have broken down. He joined the Serie A side from Ajax for €75m in 2019.

Barça are looking for a centre-back but De Ligt's price tag is too high, with Chelsea and Manchester United also linked.

The Catalan club will focus on Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde, while Napoli's Koulibaly is another slightly cheaper option.
