The Catalans are 12 points clear and only have four games left

Barcelona are now just one step away from being crowned La Liga champions. The win against Alaves on Tuesday has them on the brink of an eighth league title in 11 years. It's not over yet but it could be on Wednesday depending on Atletico Madrid's result against Valencia at the Wanda Metropolitano. For Valverde's side to win the league, the only result which is worth anything is a Valencia win. Los Che are in good form, fighting for a Champions League spot. Anything is possible.

The Blaugrana did their homework and won comfotably against Alaves despite Valverde's changes. Lionel Messi was left on the bench but the team dominated the game and killed it off in the second half. The win moves them 12 points clear of Atletico, who have a game in hand. In the case they lose, with just four games to play, Barça would be champions as they have the better head-to-head record.

It's the first match point of the season and it's on Wednesday night, 19.30 CET, at the Wanda Metropolitano. Atletico are good at home, but in recent weeks, since being knocked out of the Champions League, have lacked a little bit of their usual competitive tension. In the case that they win or draw, Barça willl have the chance to wrap up the title in front of their own fans this weekend. They host Levante at Camp Nou on Saturday.
