Beyond the election and the institutional crisis, Barcelona have continued to work on improving the squad moving forward. In that sense, sporting director Ramon Planes and his team have been scouring the market, with young Austrian star Yusuf Demir, of Rapid Vienna, catching the eye.

Barça are not the only club interested in Demir. Manchester United, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, according to ESPN, are also following him. Demir is only 17 but made his Rapid debut in 2019 and has made 28 appearances for the club in total.

He's an attacking midfielder, left-footed, who can also play across the attack. This season, he's scored six goals and set up two more in 23 appearances for Rapid Vienna. He's also a regular at youth level for Austria and is currently part of the country's U21 set-up.

The interested clubs will have to wait until June 2, when he turned 18, to be able to sign him. That's when he can move without having to do so with his parents. Barça are one of the clubs who will have to decide if they make a move after tracking Demir for months.

The reports will be passed on to Joan Laporta, who will then decide if the operation is viable or if Barça have more urgent needs. The cost is expected to be between five and 15 million euros.
