Barça to open talks with Palmeiras over teen sensation Endrick
Several European clubs have been monitoring the Brazilian youngster, still just 15
Barcelona have taken the lead in the race to sign Endrick, the 15-year-old sensation at Palmeiras, and SPORT have learned they will open negotiations with the Brazilian side in the coming days.
Barça don't want to miss out on the young forward, who will turn 16 in July and is already being targetted by Europe's biggest sides.
The Catalan club consider his signing, which is complicated due to the face he's still U18 and playing abroad, a strategic one from a sporting point of view.
Endrick would only be allowed to move to Camp Nou in the summer of 2024, when he turns 18. Therefore, in the event a deal is struck, he would remain with Palmeiras until then.
The teenager and his family are extremely grateful for everything the Brazilian club have done for his career so far.
Barça have already done the necessary legal work to be able to tie Endrick down in July, when he turns 16 and can sign his first professional contract that can, per FIFA rules, only be three years long.
The idea is to reach an agreement with Palmeiras in the coming weeks. That way, his future will be sorted when he signs hi contract with his current club, ruling out Europe's other clubs from getting involved.
Barça have in mind negotiating a transfer fee for a fixed sum to be determined, plus bonuses in relation to his progression in the game.
The transfer would not have an effect on Barça's fair play in Spain as it would not be officially executed until 2024, when the club hope to have recovered their financial power.
Endrick's rise has been brilliant. Speaking to SPORT recently, spoke about the magnetism of Barcelona after being able to watch a game at Camp Nou.
