Barca thinking about Rodri move

The Man City man would be costly though so how likely is it?

Barça are still scouring the market for a midfielder in view of the possible departure of Sergio Busquets. The player from Badia ends his contract in June and has not yet made a decision on his future.

According to Football Insider, one of the players Barça are thinking about is Rodri, the Spanish international and current Manchester City player. According to these reports, Barça would be willing to pay an amount close to 90 million euros. Rodri would fit in with what Xavi wants: he is a player used to playing as a midfielder in a team like Manchester City, who have a similar style to Barça.

The club also has some much more affordable options in the pipeline, such as Ilkay Gundogan, whose contract expires in June. The German player, also from City, is another player who can play as a midfielder and whom the coaches like. A few days ago the player's agent was at Barça's offices, although Mateu Alemany clarified that the reason for the meeting was about Christensen.

"My obligation is to know that Gundogan is free and we have met with his uncle, who is Christensen's agent. We talked about Christensen, his performance and how happy we are with the player. It was a very good signing, but there is nothing else," he told Movistar.

Another player the club is also following is Real Sociedad midfielder Zubimendi, who has a clause of 60 million. A more complicated signing because of the amount to be paid and because he is also wanted by Arsenal. The player also shares an agent with Arteta, an added difficulty in signing him, although he is Xavi Hernandez's favourite option.
