Thomas Meunier, who won the bronze medal with Belgium at the World Cup, wants PSG to let him know if he has a future at the club

Belgium was the national team which most pleased neutral fans, played the best football and looked the most likely to win the World Cup. Roberto Martinez, who helped Belgium claim third place with victory over England, knew how to make the perfect team with the players at his disposal.

The most important players in his team were: Hazard, De Bruyne, Lukaku, Chadli, Fellaini and Meunier. The last name on that list, the PSG right back, had an incredible end to the World Cup by getting into the box as often as possible and producing fine crosses for his teammates.

Truth be told, Martinez's three central defenders and two wing backs system helped demonstrate Meunier's vast capabilities. And, for a full back, it was his attacking ability which stood out the most. With Mertens or De Bruyne ahead of him, two players who prefer to drift in centrally, it left the right flank entirely to Meunier. He scored one goal and made two assists in his five matches.

Following his fine performances at the World Cup, Meunier isn't short of offers to leave PSG this summer. And now the right back wants to talk with PSG to see what their plans are for next season and whether he's got an important part to play for them.

It's worth remembering that during the two seasons Unai Emery was in charge of PSG, the young right back didn't earn himself a starting spot, and spent last season behind Dani Alves in the pecking order.

Barcelona are keeping an eye on developments between Meunier and PSG. The idea would be to sign Meunier to compete with Semedo for a starting place at right back and move Sergi Roberto back into midfield. This would only happen if the French club let Meunier know he was surplus to requirements.
