Barcelona want all employees to accept a 30 percent pay cut

Negotiations began on Wednesday between FC Barcelona and the club's staff with Josep Maria Bartomeu and his board wanting to agreed a salary cut for all employees, including the first team and Barça B players. The reduction would be around 30 percent of their wages.

Barça began the talks over an agreement on Wednesday morning, with HR rep Gemma Biosca and Workers' Union rep Jaume Feliu among those present.

There should have been representation from the first team, too, although in principle they had said they would not have anyone at the negotiations and asked for separate talks due to their extraordinary working relationships with the club. Barça, meanwhile, plan to treat all employees the same and don't feel the players should be treated specially.

FOUR PLAYERS

Barça announced late on Tuesday contract renewals for four players: Gerard Piqué, Clément Lenglet, Frenkie de Jong and Marc-André Ter Stegen. The agreements were reached in the afternoon but the club didn't want to reveal them until after the Champions League game against Ferencvaros.
