The Spanish left back is set to make a move to Brighton...and Barça held a 10% future sale clause!

FC Barcelona is set to receive an unexpected cash injection this summer. Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion are set to exercise Marc Cucurella's buy-out clause, which will see Barcelona receive almost 2 million euros that they were not counting on this summer. Of course, this money will not completely solve the club's financial woes, but every little helps.

Brighton look set to trigger the player's 18 million euro release clause that is inserted in his contract with Getafe. When Barça sold the left back to the Madrid-based club for 10 million euros, they retained a 10% sell on clause. As such, they stand to receive 1.8 million euros as soon as the sale goes through.

At first, Barcelona had agreed to sell the player for six million euros with a 40% sell on clause. However, Bartomeu's board preferred to receive four million euros more in exchange for a 10% clause - a decision that looks to have cost the club around 7 million euros.
