Barça have reached an agreement with Guangzhou but will pay a fee the same as the player's release fee

The Brazilian will sign for four years and earn €5 million net, €2 million less than in China

FC Barcelona and Guangzhou Evergrande have finalised agreement for the transfer of the Brazilian midfielder Paulinho. The fee is the same as his release fee, €40 million, although the transfer was agreed with Guangzhou and the release clause will not be triggered.

SPORT.es has been able to confirm the reports by the British press this Saturday, specifically The Daily Mail and the 29-year-old Brazilian will move to Barcelona.

Paulinho has been one of Barça’s main targets all summer, as reported by SPORT.es, and Barça continued to work on the transfer even though the player’s manager in China, Luiz Felipe Scolari, did not want the player to leave.

The player put pressure on the club to let him follow his dream of playing at the Camp Nou and, although he will still receive a good salary, he has taken a pay cut to finalise the move. He will now earn €5 million net per year, €2 million less than in Guangzhou. His contract will run for four seasons, up to 30 June 2021.

FC Barcelona have not yet confirmed the deal, but an official statement should follow soon.
