The defender sprained his ankle but there’s no confirmation how long he will be out yet

Sergiño Dest got injured as the United States drew with Canada on Sunday in a World Cup qualifier.

The Barcelona right-back came off just before half-time with an ankle problem and was pictured limping off the pitch as DeAndre Yedlin replaced him.

"Segino has an ankle sprain," US coach Gregg Berhalter said. "We're going to have to find out if he'll be available on Wednesday (vs. Honduras), but that's his status."

After Emerson Royal joined Tottenham

in the Premier League on deadline day, Dest is Barca’s first choice right-back and also the backup for Jordi Alba on the left hand side.

In Sunday’s game, Dest had been up against Alphonso Davies, who he could face again on Sept. 14 when Barca host Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

That, though, is now dependent on the former Ajax man’s fitness as Barca face a nervous wait to see how serious his ankle

injury is.
