The club plan to announce the deal on Wednesday and present the forward on Thursday

There was no other solution and Barcelona will finally have to pay Martin Braithwaite's release clause in its entirety. Leganes refused to negotiate a deal and the Catalans will have to pay 18 million euros.

All that is left is to finalize the logistics of paying the clause. Barça plan to announce the signing on Wednesday and to present the Danish striker on Thursday.

Braithwaite, 28, will sign a contract until the summer of 2023. He arrives at the direct request of coach Quique Setien, who preferred him to the other option, Getafe's Angel.

The coach, who has been handed a small squad since replacing Ernesto Valverde, wanted a more versatile player. He believes Braithwaite is capable of playing across the front three.
