Barça pushing to move Rakitic on but player in no rush to decide

The Croatian has one year to run on his deal and is expected to leave this summer

Barcelona are trying to tie down important signings and renew the contracts of key players, but for that to all happen they need to move players on.

There is a list of players that could leave, including those whose contracts expire in 2021. The club need to sell well, something which will be complicated due to the affects of the coronavirus on the transfer market.

While Arturo Vidal is listening to offers for his future, as he did in January, Ivan Rakitic's case is more tangled. The club admit they have offers for the Croatian, but the player's preference is to remain in Spain -- and, if possible, return to Sevilla.

Rakitic will have the last word. In recent years he has turned down big offers. He's still rated across Europe. He's no longer a regular at Barça but the Catalan club still hope to bring in 20 million euros for him.

In Italy, three clubs are keen. Juventus, Inter and Milan. For Barça, the Inter option is attractive it would help with a deal for striker Lautaro Martinez.

Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the situation but that boat may have passed. They were willing for him to be included in the Neymar deal last summer but Rakitic turned down the chance to leave.

Barça have no complaints about his professionalism. But the idea is to sell him and to get a deal in place as soon as possible. In principle, Rakitic is pushing to stay in La Liga and his desire is a return to Sevilla. But Sevilla aren't capable of paying too much money.

Barcelona will look to speed things up in the coming weeks, but Rakitic's people have made it clear it's not the moment to make decisions. As of now, things have stalled, but no one at Camp Nou is contemplating losing him for free in 2021.

Rakitic signed for Barça in 2014 for 18 million euros plus variables.
