The Catalan club hope to follow up summer splurge by strengthening squad further

The president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, made it clear on Friday that the club is preparing to sign in a January window that could be very active despite the additions that were made in the summer.

"We are working with the coach, with the sporting committee and with the director of football for this winter market," Laporta told Barça TV.

"We have been analysing things for some time and the team will be improved if we have the chance to do so."

Laporta did not want to go any further but made it clear that "we are in a project under construction that is settling down over time, but everything can be improved.

"Now, the winter window is coming and we are clear that we can improve the team. The project must always have the chance to improve and that's what we should do".

The club's goal is a midfielder who can replace Busquets, whose contract ends at the end of the season, and a right back, a position that is somewhat weak.
