Joan Laporta spoke after Barcelona won their 27th league title on Sunday

Barcelona's president Joan Laporta was happy at the end of the match at Espanyol because of the victory that meant winning the LaLiga title on a special stage, the first of his second term as head of the club: "It has been a Sunday of joy for all the fans to celebrate. I hope it is the first of many titles," he said.

"We have saved the club financially and we have brought joy back to Barcelona. And now we are starting to win important titles, which we hope will be the start of a splendid era," added the president, emphasising the changes that have taken place since he became the president.

On Sergio Busquets, Laporta said that "he played a great game. He is a part of our badge, he is going out winning, like a champion, which is what he deserves. We will always keep him in mind. We will strengthen the team. We are on an austerity plan to be able to have fair play. Life goes on."

He added that it has been a "very hard-working league. It is the competition of consistency and we have been very strong. We can only congratulate the players for their season and now we have to start preparing for the next one, in which we are sure we will be reinforced to fill the gaps left by players like Busquets. I'll leave you now as I'm looking forward to seeing the players and giving them a hug."

On Movistar, after the home fans invaded the pitch, he added that this league is dedicated to "all the Barça supporters."

He said Xavi "has worked hard to offer quality football. He deserves congratulations. We have a great coach, a great staff. We are very happy that this continues.

"I always thought we were on the right track but I never took it for granted because there are always those who can surprise you. We wanted to win the league as soon as possible. We played a good game in Cornellà which gave us the title."
