Barça president Laporta called Bayern's Lewandowski to ask for patience

The striker is in Mallorca waiting for Barça and Bayern to reach an agreement

Robert Lewandowski is Barcelona's priority as they continue planning for the 2022-23 season.

The club want to sign the Bayern Munich striker and he wants to make the move to Camp Nou.

Bayern will not make it easy, but Barça are calm about the situation.

President Joan Laporta and those close to him are optimistic about a deal, despite the club's delicate financial situation.

SPORT have learned that Laporta spoke with Lewandowski and his agent, Pini Zahavi, on the telephone last week to ask them for patience.

During the call, the Barça chief reaffirmed that the No.9 is their top target and that they will do all they can to push the transfer through.

He also explained the 'palanca' situation to them, operations which will help bring in financial muscle this summer.

Lewy's response was a request: that everything is sorted before July 12 so he does not have to start preseason with Bayern.

Laporta, who is grateful for all Lewandowski's done to force through a transfer, said it will be difficult but he will try.

For Barça and their coach Xavi Hernandez, it will also be ideal to have Lewandowski with the squad as soon as possible.

Intense negotiations lie in wait. Bayern reportedly want €60m, while Barça have come in with the first offer of around €40m.
