The president will face the media ahead of Frenkie de Jong's presentation
FC Barcelona have announced that the club's president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, will hold a press conference at 17:30 to discuss the recent changes at club and particularly what will happen after Jordi Mestre announced he was leaving. Barça and Bartomeu wanted to explain those developments ahead of Frenkie de Jong's presentation as to take nothing away from the new signing's arrival.
Bartomeu is expected to announce that he will take over the responsibilities previously held by Mestre and how things will work going forward. He met with Pep Segura, the manager of the sporting department, to see what his plans were now Mestre had left. Inside the boardroom, many are unhappy with Segura and wouldn't be opposed to him leaving as well.
No doubt Bartomeu will speak about ongoing transfer targets as well as giving his opinion on last season's achievements. The president has no doubts about Ernesto Valverde being the right man to lead the club forward.
